April 24th, 2008 A Show of Support

Introduction

Jeremy told me on the phone that it was the best sighting that he had ever had. He strongly suspected that it was a show of support. He readily admitted that he really needed one.  It hadn’t been easy for him to go back to his small hometown of Victoria Texas. There his 97 year-old grandmother was getting increasingly frail and forgetful. She repeatedly lit the fire in the kitchen and forgot that it was on. She lived alone and it was clear that he would probably have to move in with her. He preferred staying with his friend Paul who shared his interest in UFOs. However since other family members in town seemed to be too busy with their own lives and family responsibilities to give grandma the support that she needed, he would have to make the move. In addition his job prospects in Victoria were not the greatest. The odd construction jobs that he got from family and friends were not particularly interesting and with the hot weather coming on strong in southern Texas, he knew things were going to get even tougher.

His plan to move back to Texas had been made in December during a visit to Victoria. Associated with his decision, a number of friends in Victoria had UFO encounters during Christmas week. Some of the sightings were multiply witnessed and with Jeremy’s encouragement his buddies talked to me on the phone about what they had seen. The sightings were truly impressive.

Following these events in Victoria, a major wave of UFO sightings took place in Stephenville Texas. Remarkably the mass media covered the flap despite the paucity of photographs and videos available to document the encounters. It appeared to many in the citizen’s UFO community that some powerful media forces had decided to ease up a little bit on their complicity in the UFO cover-up. It seemed for once that the fourth estate was finally going to do its job and report UFO encounters as news. On television and in print, there was serious coverage about the Texas wave. Surprisingly a minimum of the ridicule was present. Belittling the subject has been the corporate media’s trademark up to now when it comes to UFOs.

The Encounter

According to Jeremy his best sighting to date happened on April 24th at approximately 2:30 AM. Victoria Texas that night was warm, about 80 degrees. The sky had a high cloud cover that he described as scattered. Stars reportedly could be seen between the patches of clouds. The air was still, no wind at all.

From the northeast a rapidly moving white cloud approached Jeremy’s position. It was oval shaped and the lights of the town illuminated its underside. He estimated that the cloud’s altitude was quite low, well under a thousand feet. There were no other low clouds to be seen. Whatever clouds there were formed a high ceiling. With no wind being present, the approaching cloud’s speed of an estimated 40 to 50 miles per hour made no sense to Jeremy. He told me that he immediately became suspicious. He guessed that what he was witnessing was not a natural phenomenon. Its size at arms length approximated the diameter of a basketball and Jeremy estimated it was perhaps 100 feet across.

The strange oval shaped cloud closed in on Jeremy’s position. As it flew directly overhead he had to crank his head straight up to follow it. He glanced down for a moment to relieve the tension in his neck. Suddenly a brilliant flash of blue light illuminated the entire backyard. Jeremy told me that it was as if night had been turned into day. At the same time Jeremy reported feeling a popping surge of pressure on the top of his head. He rapidly turned upwards to observe the object and he was amazed at what he saw.

Inside the cloud was a large metallic donut shaped craft. Its superstructure extended out to near the edge of the so-called cloud. The “hole” in the donut structure was small compared to the thick curved walls of the ship. Along the entire rim was an array of rectangular windows that were connected by linear rod-like markings. Blindingly bright rectangular shafts of blue light emanated from each of these windows and the beams were directed down towards the ground. In the moment that Jeremy had glanced away, the craft and its “cloud” envelope had moved from a 12 o’clock, directly overhead position, to the 10 o’clock position. There in all its shocking grandeur, the silent craft hovered motionlessly. To Jeremy’s astonishment the blue shafts of lights were rapidly being drawn back into the object. The light beams had a solidity to them unlike any visual display that he had ever seen. It was as if he were viewing solid metal gangways being simultaneously retracted back into a sea-faring ship. The oval array of rectangular windows continue to glow blue even after the shafts of light had been drawn completely  into the belly of the donut shaped UFO. This sighting lasted about 15 seconds. It was Jeremy’s judgment that he had just witnessed an Extraterrestrial spacecraft. The motionless cloud that it had used for cover then slowly enveloped the entire superstructure of the metallic craft. Although the UFO could no longer be seen, Jeremy told me that at the level of knowledge he was aware that the craft was still inside its camouflaging “cloud.”

For another 15 minutes he continued to gaze up at the white oval cloud that hovered silently overhead. A wave of intense gratitude swept over him. Although he couldn’t prove it, he believed that this awe-inspiring sighting was a dramatic show of personal support for his efforts to investigate UFOs and his belief in the possibilities for peaceful contacts with Extraterrestrials. He went inside around 3AM, but was so excited by the experience that he stayed awake for a long time. Jeremy called me the next day and described his sighting. I told him that I shared his assessment that it was a definite show of support. We both agreed that it’s good to have friends in high places.
