Jeremy Ray’s Close Encounter of the
Fifth Kind CE-5
Copyright Joseph Burkes MD 2009
Jeremy Ray sounded exuberant when
called me on October 13th 2007, “Last night I had me a real CE-5 and
Max Challender was there with me.”
“I didn’t want to believe you Dr.
Burkes.“ Jeremy Ray told me on the
phone. “All your talk about me being a contactee.” He went on to say, “Now I
guess I’m willing to accept who I am.”
Max’s father Jeff Challender had carved
out for himself a unique place in the UFO investigations arena. After a series
of failed back operations complicated by a serious post operative infection, he
was left crippled with chronic pain. Confined to bed much of the time, Jeff was
able to record and carefully analyse thousands of hours of live video from US
space missions. With a sharp eye and even sharper mind he was able to
conclusively reveal NASA’s efforts to cover-up UFOs being documented by onboard
spacecraft cameras. Practically single-handedly he produced award winning video
documentaries that demonstrated anomalous structured craft operating in the
vicinity of US space missions.
From 2004 till 2008 Jeremy had been the
focus of UFO phenomena. He described having dozens of personal sightings. In
addition his friends reported UFO sightings when he came over for visits. My
years of participation in Dr. Greer’s CSETI organization made me very sensitive
to the importance of those rare individuals who have a longstanding positive
personal relationship with non-human intelligence of a presumed extraterrestrial
nature.
Both living in Sacramento, Jeff
Challender and Jeremy Ray had become close friends. On Jeff Challender’s web
site Projectprove.com, Jeremy was able to place video evidence of UFOs flying
over the Sacramento metropolitan area. When Jeff Challender died of a massive heart attack on October 4th 2007, Jeremy took it hard. Jeff’s wife Janet and son Max just 20 years old were
devastated. Janet asked Jeremy to spend time with her son and on Friday night
October 12th. Max went over to Jeremy’s place to hang out and play
video games.
From spending time with Jeremy and
writing up reports about his encounters, I strongly suspected Jeremy had the
rare ability to be able to request a sighting and actually receive one as a
kind of courtesy from the intelligence we call extraterrestrial.
Since meeting Jeremy in March of 2007,
I had talked to him about his accepting this contactee status. Despite general
societal ridicule and deniaI concerning UFOs, I encouraged him to be open about
the way in which sightings were happening wherever he went. He was resistant to
this notion, in part I suspected because of his modesty. He told me that he had not done anything special
to warrant this privilege. I guessed that it also may have frightened him to have such a peculiar relationship with
something as strange as non-human intelligence and he was concerned about being
viewed as some kind of a freak.
On April 4th 2007 according
to Jeremy, an unmarked black helicopter appeared directly over his home. On
exiting the house to investigate, the chopper pilot pointed the forward section
of the craft directly at him. Jeremy described suddenly becoming dazed and
temporarily blinded by apparently some kind of energy weapon fired from the
helicopter. After the attack when he regained his eyesight he was able to film
the helicopter maneuvering at treetop level in his neighborhood. I saw the
footage as did many of Jeremy’s friends. He and I agreed that he was probably
targeted by some kind of black ops group trying to punish him for his Et
connection. Their vicious interest in him confirmed to me in no uncertain terms Jeremy’s importance to
the UFO research community and to what I like to call the contact movement. If
he did not have the capability of drawing in UFOs then why would black ops
choose to mount an action against him? The black helicopter attack was a better
argument for his contactee status than any I could provide.
On the night of October 12th Jeremy asked Max if he would like to see a UFO. The answer was an enthusiastic,
“Yes!” After playing video games together for a while, Jeremy declared his
intentions. He told Max that sometime after 11 PM they would have a sighting on
the balcony outside his apartment. He then put his plan to action. It was
approximately
Jeremy told me that on this October
night, while in a state of deep relaxation, he made a request to
Extraterrestrial intelligence. If they could truly read his thoughts and
respond to his desire to have a sighting with Max, then they should prove it by
appearing in the northern sky over his house. Jeremy wanted to help give Max a
UFO encounter that would lift the boy’s spirits after the sudden loss of his
father.
While in meditation Jeremy reportedly
gave them a specific time window for the encounter to occur. He specified that
it should happen between 11:01 and 11:11 PM. After about 30 minutes he came out
of his meditation. He and Max went outside on the balcony and waited.
Max told me that Jeremy in advance had
promised him a UFO sighting and that it would occur just after 11PM. Once
outside Jeremy pointed directly to the section of sky where the sighting would
take place. By Jeremy’s watch it was 11:06 when a glowing sphere appeared in
the northeast sky and rapidly flew to the west. Max said it was white, very
bright and moved without a sound. Jeremy estimated that it was about 70 degrees
up from the horizon and was the size of a quarter held at arms length. As the
sphere silently traveled, it lay down a perfectly straight white glowing trail
behind it.
According to Jeremy the sighting only
lasted about five seconds, but in that time the object flew across the sky from
eastern to western horizon. The white trail persisted for several seconds even
after the UFO had disappeared from sight.
Max confirmed Jeremy’s account of their
encounter and that he thought the UFO sighting was a great experience. Max
added that he hoped to see more of them in the future. Jeremy confided in me
that prior to appearance of the sphere, he was only about 50 percent confident
that a UFO would actually show up. After this amazing encounter his confidence
was bolstered and he was now willing to accept his status as a contactee.
According to Dr. Greer’s Close Encounters of the Fifth Kind protocols, Jeremy
had been successful in what the doctor called “primary vectoring.” From my
experience in CSETI during the 1990s I thought Jeremy had achieved a very high
CE-5.
At first Jeremy asked me not to write
up his encounter. I suspected that as enthusiastic as he was about his
collaborative achievement with the ETs, the responsibility of his newly
acknowledged relationship was somewhat frightening. I was given the OK to talk
about his CE-5, but permission to generate a report was given only a few weeks
before his scheduled departure to Texas in February of 2008. This was 3 months
after Max and Jeremy’s sighting. It felt good to hear that Jeremy now could
accept his contactee status. By definition a contactee is someone who believes
that he/she has ongoing contacts and/or communication with Extraterrestrials.
In my opinion Jeremy was much more than just a simple contactee, one who might
report seeing ETs, or perhaps receive what they believed was a message from
them. Jeremy Ray’s proven ability to facilitate sightings for others strongly
suggested to me that he could perhaps someday play an important role in the
contact movement. Our cause of promoting peaceful interactions with
Extraterrestrial Intelligence and to build over time, a sustainable, mutually
beneficial relationship, needs young energetic UFO investigators like Jeremy
Ray who have strong ties to the intelligence responsible for what is known as
the flying saucer phenomenon.
The question now arose for me whether
or not Jeremy would accept the status of being more than just a simple
contactee ? Could he embrace an identity of what I call being a “prime contactee?” And would he be willing to
accept the responsibilities and potential risks that went along with being a
“prime?” Only time would provide the answers.
